A Stinky Situation

The other day I was watching Jim Gaffigan's stand up and he made a joke in reference to the 'green lifestyle':

"My wife is into organic products. She bought me a natural deodorant. It said right there on the packaging, "Does Not Work."

This couldn't be more true. I don't like conventional deodorants because of the whole aluminum thing (linking to Alzheimer's and breast cancer) and the only non-aluminum deodorants that I can find are the natural deodorants like Tom's and it doesn't deodorize you. You stink. It doesn't help at all.

So I tried making my own out of coconut oil, baking soda, and arrowroot powder. And that deodorizes you but it gets kind of melt-y and you have to keep it in the fridge. Plus it's kind of scratchy, like your applying a scouring pad to your delicate underarms. So your friends will hang out again, but you have cold, raw armpits. Also no good.

So we're left with: stinky and no friends, friends and raw pits, or ...we have cancer.

Anybody out there have better ideas? Other recipes to try? I'm open.

I use coconut, baking soda and corn starch. It works amazingly well for me and my super sensitive husband. We have tried all the natural ones on the market as well as Funk Butter. I really prefer my concoction. With equal parts of cs and bs and enough cocunt oil to make it smooth, I haven't had a problem with scratchy (and I did with FB). Anyway not much help, but I have been there!

On warm days, I just wear buckets under my armpits.

proud mama - thanks for sharing that. i've tried the crystal ones, and tom's and blah blah without any help, so i reluctantly went back to cancer sticks. I'll give this a shot.
