Embroidered Oneies

Stitching is fun but it takes FOREVER. Each of these onesies took like 2 hours! How is that possible?!? I must just be very slow at it. Does it take everyone that long to create such simple designs?  But honestly, totally worth it. Nothing like exploiting silly jokes at a baby's expense.

Clockwise from the bottom left we have a sugar skull, a domokun (I don't know what it is either, Hubby wanted me to make it for them and he found it HILARIOUS that I actually did), an alien in a spaceship, and my personal a favorite the "Mom" tattoo.

Special note to Jenn: when your baby is born I would really appreciate pictures of him/her in the tattoo onesie. It will make me giggle.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Do you ever have those instances in your day to day life when you experience pure and inexplicable satisfaction? Here are a couple of mine:

• Waking up to the sound of rainfall
• Cracking my neck after not being able to all day 
• Coming home to find the the green pepper I have been watching all week finally turned red
• Hot tea on a drizzly morning
• Finding five bucks in my coat after not wearing it for a year 
• Popping the pit out of an avocado
• Having a beer after gardening all day 
• Butter Rum Bread Pudding at the Boat Street Cafe
• Stuffing the bell and filling into the below project 

When my good friend Jenn got pregnant, I began digging around for some crafty gifts I could send to her. I checked out Lotta Jansdotter's new book, Simple Sewing for Baby.  And the one of the cutest projects I saw also happened to be the easiest. Soft rattles shaped like strange little giraffe. You just fill them with stuffing and a bell and *POOF* its a rattle. Genius.

My First Quilt

It measures 32" x 24". It is very small indeed. I was testing the quilting waters. But it worked out because it is just the right size to be a nice traveling changing pad for my good friend's baby-to-be. I threw some ties on the end so she could wrap it up and toss it into her diaper bag.

Let me tell ya. This is tough. All the measuring and precise cutting is hard work. Doing a full size project is going to take me a long time, but I'm looking forward to it. Oh, how I love to sew.
